Willow Weekly #12

Happy Sunday, Willow Families!

I hope you're enjoying your weekend. I also want to thank everyone who had to reschedule a conference for your flexibility and understanding. We got through them all!

Here are your important updates for the coming week:

1) Spelling tests will be on Monday AND Friday this week. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

2) Monday is book report day! As this was a written assignment, presentations will be 2-3 minutes of a brief summary of what the book was about and what their sequel was about. They do NOT need to read their sequel chapter aloud.

3) 6th years will be going to Meadow Brook Hall on Tuesday. More details to come as I receive them!

4) The final date to turn them in Personal Narratives for credit will be Monday 12/12/16, but all papers not yet turned in at this point in time are considered late. Any papers turned in after 12/12 will receive a score of 0. 6th years had an extended deadline due to their overnight field trip.

5) President Research should be completed at this point, and there will be no more class time given to work on it. Presentations are optional, and can be scheduled for any DEAR time in the next two weeks.

6) Lit Circles were not able to meet on Friday due to the 4th grade field trip and 6th grade science NWEA testing. Make sure to check out the Academics page for the current assignment!

7) We are entering the home stretch for geography reports! Final papers are due on Friday, 12/16. This gives students two more full weeks to work on them. If your student is finding that the class time given is insufficient or that they need to catch up, I highly recommend setting time aside to work on it at home, as well.

8) Last but not least, I'm planning to set up student/teacher conferences over the next couple of weeks, mirroring the format of our parent/teacher conferences. The focus will be on touching base with each child about my goals for them this year and their own goals for the year, and how they plan to accomplish them.

As always, thank you all for your constant support and hard work!

Regards,

Kiersten
